A seed is placed...
Under the shade of a great Mamey tree, kids were running around chasing a green parrot... The smell of homemade candies, peanut cookies and the sweet of the merengue kept these kids near the kitchen where Juanita and Denis fixed the supply that soon would be taken to the primary school in the nearby plaza. Pots of empanadas and sweets where carried by local kids to be sold at school break hours, so a culinary tradition begun with a local family of Denis and Juanita Angulo.

By then they already served in the garden to the sales reps that sailed through the Caribbean, school teachers from out of town and one or another lonely local which wife had been away on a trip, food was donated to the prisoners of the jail that used to be across their house.
Traveler and writer for magazine Holiday, John F. Humpreys arrives to Cozumel, stays for one month. He founds soon paradise and transmits it on one of the first touristic articles for the island. He highly spoke about the beauty, the people and the food. Such impact was made by his writings that hundreds of people started to arrive to Cozumel and to Denis House. Mr Denis soon named his house the Tropical Fonda of Mr. Humpreys as a thank for the opportunity to serve more visitors.

By now the restaurant Casa Denis was very well renamed as one of the best eateries in the Yucatan, as proof on articles dated 19 59 by Mr. Humpreys on an August edition of Holiday magazine. The numbers of visitors to the island had increased and the dinners to the Casa Denis were made upon reservations to groups no bigger than 30 people due to the limited space in the garden of the house. The staff: Mrs. Juanita on the kitchen, Denis as a Host, with his little English he found a way to serve celebrities such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Jim Nabors, Princes of Holland and Placido Domingo along many more. The nephews and kids plays the role of waiters and helpers to the great set menu consisting of Lime soup, refried beans, Spanish tortilla, Sea Turtle stack and the great homemade candies as desert.
After the death of Denis and Juanita, a family legacy of culinary tradition was left and up to date is being honored with love and passion by a family from Cozumel offering a large variety of original recipes from the Yucatan, Mexican and Seafood cooking.
